The Plan Commission comprises five residents and may include one ex-officio citizen member with recognized experience and qualifications related to planning and development with three-year terms. Chairperson: Clyde Hutchinson. Members: Lisa Bieri, Al Birnschein, Theresa Cain-Bieri, and Peter Evers.
The Plan Commission responsibilities are to:
- promote the public health, safety, morals, comfort, prosperity, aesthetics, and general welfare of the town
- encourage the protection of surface and ground water
- stabilize and protect property values
- further the appropriate use of land and conservation of natural resources
- preserve and promote the beauty of the community
- implement the community's Comprehensive Plan or plan components
The Plan Commission shall also encourage the economic development of Jacksonport Township by:
- Evaluating economic development and related activities in the town
- Identify the strengths and weaknesses in the current town economy
- Recommend projects and public improvements in the town that improve the local economy
- Work to create jobs and development in the town
- Work to create public improvements consistent with the approved land use plan and economic development
In addition, the Plan Commission shall:
- Exercise the authority and responsibilities of a Town Plan Commission as outlined in the state statutes
- Make recommendations to the Town Board on the issues requiring Town Board approval
- Prepare an annual report on the activities and operations of the committee along with recommendations for future improvements
- Prepare an annual budget and submit it to the Town Board
